Welcome to KFT

The Commission for Research Diving in Germany (KFT) is a registered professional association of german research institutions which carry out scientific diving on the basis of the current national rules and regulations. Members of the professional association are in particular universities, non-university research institutions and companies which employ “certified research divers”, the training companies for research divers recognised in Germany according to GUV-R 2112, the examination commission for research divers of the DGUV and the Federal Ministry for Research and Technology (BMBF). Updated version of DGUV Rule 101-023

The current german version can be downloaded here as a pdf: DGUV Regel 101-023 “Forschungstauchen”. A translated english version will follow soon.
The old DGUV version from 2011 has thus lost its validity.
In addition to the many editorial changes that make research diving even safer, we would like to draw your attention to the new set of tables for calculating dives. The new DGUV Rule 101-023 describes some case studies for handling. The old tables are no longer valid.

Rebuttal / Correction

On 17 December 2024, the daily newspaper Kieler Nachrichten published the news that the diver Hubert Pinto de Kraus had been nominated as a direct candidate for the AfD Kiel in the 2025 Bundestag election in constituency 5 (Kiel, Kronshagen and Altenholz).

The report also states that Hubert Pinto de Kraus is President of the ‘International Association of Scientific Divers’. This designation is misleading and false. It suggests that Hubert Pinto de Kraus is connected to the German or European scientific research diver community. This is not the case.

In fact, the ‘International Association of Scientific Divers’ is a registered association that operates locally in Kiel. This association has no connection whatsoever with professional scientific diving in Germany or Europe. It is neither a member of the German Scientific Diving Commission (KFT) nor of the European Scientific Diving Panel (ESDP).

New Recommendation for Action “Use of resuscitators”

In times of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is also more difficult to ventilate an injured diver. To minimise contact with the diver, resuscitators are a good solution. However, their use is not necessarily taught in first aid courses. This recommendation for action is intended to serve as a guideline for training in the use of resuscitation bags.
