3rd Symposium Scientific Diving

The Commission Scientific Diving Germany, cooperating with the Limnological Institute of the University of Constance and with the Scientific Diving Training Center Teraqua, invites to the 3rd Symposium “Scientific Diving”, taking place in City of Constance, Southern Germany. A one – day conference and a public talk on the eve of the previous day will provide the framework for presentations on ongoing and future research projects and on contracting services in the context of diver – based aquatic sciences.
We ask for presentations from the different disciplines of Scientific Diving (e.g. geology, marine and freshwater biology, journalism, engeneering sciences, archaeology). Conference language will be German, but we welcome presentations and posters in English as well.
Scientific Diving at Lake Constance focuses to `pile dwelling´ and ship archaeology, and to limnology. Actors of this research are not only governmental or academic institutions, but also small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), operating as contractors. The presence of academic researchers, planning bureaus and freelancers who are involved avocationally to scientific diving will therefore be especially appreciated. One whole presentation block will be reserved for presentations dealing with working environments of private businesses.
The conference will give opportunities to guided visits to the ´pile dwelling” presentation and to the nautical archaeology exhibition of the Archaeological Museum, and to diving excoursions to the archaeology and limnology of Lake Constance. Taucherquelle”, Freiburg i. Br., will represent the diving industry and present new products for recreational, vocational, and scientific diving.

Info - Jahressitzung der KFT – 12. – 13.12.2012
Die Kommission Forschungstauchen Deutschland hat im Zuge ihrer Jahressitzung im Februar 2013 mehrere Beschlüsse gefasst, welche die Kommissionsarbeit inhaltlich und personell erweitern. So wird es in der KFT künftig zwei neue Ressorts „Ausbildung“ und „Wissenschaft“ geben welche sich mit spezifischen Fragen aus dem operativen Bereich beschäftigen. Des Weiteren wurde eine Satzungsänderung beschlossen welche die Aufnahme neuer Mitglieder aus Forschung, Dienstleistung und Universitäten als Vollmitglieder der KFT vereinfacht. Für fünf deutsche Forschungseinrichtungen läuft inzwischen ein entsprechendes Aufnahmeverfahren. Zusätzlich wurde auf Antrag gemeinsam mit den zuständigen Stellen der Berufsgenossenschaftlichen die Etablierung eines neuen Ausbildungsbetriebes am ZMT –Leibnitz Zentrum für Marine Tropenökologie in Bremen beschlossen.
